Product Description
Septran DS Suspension contains co-trimoxazole, an antibacterial combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. “DS” indicates a higher-strength formulation compared with standard Septran suspension. It is a prescription antibiotic used for certain bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Uses
Septran DS may be prescribed for certain urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, ear infections, gastrointestinal infections, and other susceptible bacterial infections. It does not treat viral infections such as the common cold or flu.
How to Use
Shake the bottle thoroughly before every dose. Measure each dose accurately with an oral syringe or medicine measuring cup. The package indicates administration approximately every 12 hours (morning and evening), but the exact amount and treatment duration must be determined by a doctor according to the patient's age, weight, condition, and the suspension's strength.
Complete the full prescribed course unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Do not substitute Septran DS for regular-strength Septran using the same volume without medical advice because the concentrations may differ.
Important Safety Information
Do not use in anyone with a known allergy to sulfonamides, trimethoprim, or co-trimoxazole. Medical advice is particularly important for patients with kidney or liver problems, blood disorders, or those taking other medicines.
